The client who has been lived in a single-family house for over 30 years requested to have a house designed mainly for the couple, as their children has left the nest.
In the first floor, there is a courtyard in the center of the house and it is surrounded by a foyer, living room, dining room, and stair hall. The kitchen, bathroom and closet are directly aligned in the north side. A Japanese style room is located next to the dining room, which has a lot of flexibility. There are a bed room, western style room, bathroom and cloak in the second floor.
The ceilings of living room and bedroom are hipped style which represents the shape of the roof itself. Based on the plaster walls and narrow boards of Douglas fir, natural materials were used for entire house.
住まい手は、戸建住宅に増築しながら３０余年をへて、お子さんの独立を節目にご夫婦中心の住宅を望まれました。
１階平面は中庭を取り囲む形で、玄関、居間、食堂、階段室が 並んでいます。北には台所、洗面、納戸が一直線上にあります。和室は食堂の横にあり自由度をもたせています。２階は寝室、洋室、洗面、クロークがあります。
インテリアの特徴として居間と寝室の天井は、屋根の形をそのまま表現した寄棟天井としました。
材料については漆喰壁と米松小巾板を基調に自然素材を使用しました。
